Optimism in European agriculture had further increased up to February 2008 and readiness to invest also continues to rise.

Der Optimismus in der europäischen Landwirtschaft hat bis zum, Februar 2008 weiter zugenommen. Die Investitionsbereitschaft ist weiter angestiegen.

Les enquêtes réalisées jusqu’en février 2008 ont montré que les agriculteurs étaient de plus en optimistes. Les intentions d’investissement continuent d’augmenter.

A survey of European farmers highlights three decisive business success factors. Information networks and contacts are crucial and should be  built-upon because these bring new ideas into the business. Also promising are the abilities to first of all develop a strategy for the business and then to apply it according to the demands of the time. Especially helpful appears to be contacts outwith the purely agricultural network for instance with the non-farming public.

Eine Befragung von europäischen  Landwirten zeigte, das es drei entscheidende Erolgsfaktoren für ein Unternehmen gibt: Netzwerke und Kontakte sind entscheidend. Sie bringen neue Ideen fürs Geschäft und sollten ausgebaut werden. Erfolgversprechend sind die Fähigkeiten, eine Strategie für das Unternehmen zu entwickeln und sie zeitgemäß anzupassen. Speziell hilfreich scheinen Kontakte über das landwirtschaftliche Netzwerk hinaus. Also beispielsweise direkte Kontakte zur nicht-landwirtschaftlichen Bevölkerung.

Une enquête effectuée auprès d‘agriculteurs européens montre que le succès de l‘entreprise agricole dépend de trois facteurs majeurs. Le réseau de contacts est déterminant. Il procure de nouvelles idées à exploiter à condition de posséder les compétences pour développer des stratégies adaptées. Les contacts en dehors du monde agricole –  en prise directe avec la population non rurale –   sont les plus prometteurs. 

Worldwide, farmland rental laws and customs vary just as much as the production conditions and traditions. If there is a trend then it’s the change from traditional sharecropping to cash rents. In times of higher grain prices more thought is also being given to intracontractual rent adjustment possibilities.

Weltweit sind die Pachtgesetze und -gepflogenheiten so unterschiedlich wie die Produktionsbedingungen und die Traditionen. Wenn es einen weltweiten Trend gibt, dann den Wechsel von der Teilung von Kosten und Erträgen (crop sharing) hin zu festen jährlichen Pachtzahlungen (cash rent). In Zeiten hoher Getreidepreise wird auch über flexible Anpassungsmöglichkeiten der Pachtpreise verstärkt nachgedacht.

Le droit et les coutumes du fermage sont aussi variés de par le monde que les traditions et les conditions de production. S’il devait y avoir une tendance mondiale, ce serait le passage du partage des coûts et des récoltes (crop sharing) au paiement de fermages annuels (cash rent). Dans un contexte de prix élevé des céréales, la réflexion porte aussi sur la possibilité d’introduire davantage de souplesse dans le calcul des fermages.

Russia includes a great variety of different agricultural conditions and just as many types of farm. Western levels of yield can only be achieved in a small proportion of areas but despite this good product prices and great readiness to invest – from foreigners too - mean Russian agriculture continues with its dynamic development.

Große regionale Unterschiede und ein enormes Spektrum an landwirtschaftlichen Betriebstypen kennzeichnen Russland. Erträge auf westeuropäischem Niveau sind nur auf einem kleinen Teil der Flächen zu erzielen. Allerdings entwickelt sich die russische Landwirtschaft aufgrund guter Preise für ihre Produkte und einer hohen Investitionsbereitschaft – auch von Ausländern– weiter dynamisch.

La Russie se caractérise par la très grande diversité de ses exploitations agricoles en fonction de leurs orientations techniques et de leur localisation géographique. Y obtenir des rendements comparables à l’Europe de l’ouest n’est possible que sur une petite partie de la superficie. Cependant, l’agriculture russe profite d’une bonne dynamique de développement en raison du bon niveau des prix agricoles et des velléités d’investissement, y compris de la part d’opérateurs étrangers.

An agricultural entrepreneur must have the will and courage to be independent. Alongside good education, training and the necessary knowledge the consequent application of the right know-how in practice is indispensable. Additionally, a successful farmer need not necessarily be expert on the world market but instead should rather concentrate on good business relationships

Ein landwirtschaftlicher Unternehmer muss den Willen und Mut zur Selbstständigkeit haben. Neben guter Ausbildung und entsprechendem Wissen ist die konsequente Umsetzung richtiger Erkenntnisse in die Praxis unverzichtbar. Außerdem muss ein erfolgreicher Landwirt nicht unbedingt Experte auf dem Weltmarkt sein, sondern lieber gute Geschäftsbeziehungen pflegen.

Un manager agricole doit avoir la volonté et le courage d’être indépendant. Il doit être bien formé, connaître son métier et savoir faire les bons choix sur le terrain. Pour réussir, il n’a pas forcément besoin d’être un expert des marchés internationaux ; mieux vaut pour lui qu’il soigne ses relations commerciales.

Since Slovakia’s EU entry many dairy farms there are exploiting development opportunities. Currently the effects on management of the old systems with low milk production and poor labour efficiency can still sometimes be seen. But many farms have already changed to modern equipment and are investing continuously in expansion although it will be some time before the potential of the Slovakian milk sector can be fully exploited.

Seit dem EU-Beitritt der Slowakei nutzen viele Milchviehbetriebe dort ihre Entwicklungschancen. Momentan sind bei der Bewirtschaftung teilweise noch die Auswirkungen der ehemaligen Staatsbetriebe mit niedriger Milchleistung und schlechter Arbeitsproduktivität zu sehen. Andererseits arbeiten viele Betriebe bereits mit moderner Technik und investieren ständig weiter in betriebliches Wachstum. Aber es wird noch einige Zeit dauern, bis das Potential des slowakischen Milchsektors voll ausgeschöpft wird.

Depuis l’adhésion de la Slovaquie à l’UE, beaucoup d’élevages laitiers profitent de la chance qu’ils ont de pouvoir se développer. Tous n’ont pas encore complètement gommé l’héritage des grandes exploitations d’Etat auxquelles ils ont succédé. Leur niveau d’étable reste bas et la productivité du travail faible. Beaucoup d’autres disposent d’équipements modernes et investissent dans leur croissance. Mais il coulera encore beaucoup d’eau sous les ponts avant que le secteur laitier slovaque n’exploite tout son potentiel.
